What is the difference between booking individual rooms and the whole Villa? 

Whether you are traveling to Villa Santa Cruz as a couple or with a big group, our different booking options allow you to customize your stay.

• When you choose to book an individual room (the Villa is a boutique hotel), your room rate comes with welcome margaritas, a tray of coffee/tea delivered to your room in the morning, a continental breakfast with an egg dish and a light lunch. Guests do not have personal access to the kitchen. Dinner can be arranged with advanced notice.

• Alternatively, if you have a big group or want to ensure your privacy, you can rent out the entire Villa (like a vacation rental). The Villa will be your private home for the length of your stay. You have full access to the kitchen; no meals are provided. Grocery shopping service available upon request. Wedding groups must rent the entire Villa. Sleeps maximum of 10 people.

Where are you located? 

Villa Santa Cruz is located approximately 4 miles north of Todos Santos, right on the beach. The town of Todos Santos is set back about one mile from the water, so, to be on the beach, you need to leave town. The Villa’s location is unique because it is far enough away from town that the guest experience is private (empty beaches, few neighbors), yet close enough to enjoy the great restaurants, art galleries, shopping, etc. of Todos Santos. Currently, the drive time between the Villa and Todos Santos is about 10-15 minutes on a bumpy dirt road. The road is currently being paved , and once completed (expected in Fall 2012), you’ll drive mainly on pavement, with just a relatively smooth dirt stretch (2km) at the end.

How far is Todos Santos/Villa Santa Cruz from the airport? 

You can fly into either Los Cabos (SJD) or La Paz (LAP). From Los Cabos, the drive time is approximately 2 hours; from La Paz, it is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The roads from both cities are recently renovated (construction completed) – they are safe and wide four lane highways. Can you swim in the ocean in front of the Villa? 

The Pacific Ocean along the Baja Peninsula is generally too rough for novice swimmers and children. This is one of the reasons why the Villa has such a large pool. However, we are located on a world class surf break (La Pastora), so the ocean is great for experienced surfers and swimmers.

Is the pool heated? 

Yes, the pool is heated by a solar collector system (very eco-friendly!). As long as there is sun, the pool is usually at least 80⁰F/27⁰C.

Is there surfing nearby? 

Villa Santa Cruz is just a 10 minute walk up the beach from a well known surf break in the area called La Pastora. It is a bit off the beaten path, so it is more of a "locals" spot. Also, there is surfing (when the waves behave) in front of the Villa and in between the Villa and La Pastora (a smaller break called Mandelone's). There are also two other breaks in the area – San Pedrito and Cerritos. If you decide not to travel with your surfboard/gear, we can arrange to have rentals here upon your arrival. What does it mean that Villa Santa Cruz is “off the grid?” 

The property is located beyond the reach of town services (“off the grid”) so the Villa operates on its own infrastructure. The Villa is powered almost entirely by solar, the pool is heated through solar collectors and circulated by a solar pump, and the laundry is line-dried.

Do you have a restaurant?

Villa Santa Cruz does not have a restaurant. When you book individual rooms at the Villa, your room rate includes breakfast and lunch. For dinner, either head into town or arrange to have your evening meal at the Villa (must be done in advance; additional charges apply). Hotel guests do not have personal access to the kitchen. If you have booked the entire Villa as a vacation rental, you have full access to the kitchen to prepare all meals.
